Title: Cybersecurity- Threats, Measures and Control in a Process Plant

With an increase in the use of Ethernet as the de-facto mode of communication, and with the increase in the requirement of plant and enterprise connectivity, cybersecurity threats on the Industrial Control System has increased. An ICS is a computer system that controls industrial processes such as process plants, power plants, water and gas distribution, food production, etc. The security of ICS is important, as cyber-attacks on an ICS may have devastating consequences on human lives and safety in general. In this context, the most valuable asset is the process that is under the control of the ICS. As a result of attacks on the process, the behavior of the process can be altered, by changing the program output and by changing the automation logic. In this tutorial analysis will be done on threats due to user application and network infrastructure. The third attack vector remains out of the scope as it typically includes hardware device tampering e.g., on a measurement sensor. For the selected attack vectors during this tutorial investigation is done on the problem, an approach is presented for addressing the problem and validation of the presented approach is done.
